Political situation has not affected Pak army control of nuclear
assets: US Intelligence
WASHINGTON, Feb 5 (APP): The recent political situation in
Pakistan has not threatened the Pakistani military’s control of
the nuclear assets, according to an assessment of U.S.
intelligence.
“The Pakistan Army
oversees nuclear programmes, including security responsibilities,
and we judge that the Army’s management of nuclear policy issues
to include physical security has not been degraded by Pakistan’s
political crisis,” the annual threat assessment of the Director
National Intelligence released Tuesday concluded.

McConnell informed the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on
Tuesday that
Pakistan is
a critical partner in US counterterrorism efforts. He said
Pakistan continues to face challenges including “coping with an
unparalleled level of suicide attacks” by violent extremists.

- The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday directed NAB to arrest
Lt Col (Retd) Jamshed Iqbal, Director Mega Securities Private
Limited (MSPL), and produce him before the Accountability Court
for his involvement in the Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) fraud
case.A three-member bench of the apex court headed by CJ Iftikhar
Muhammad Ch and comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice
Jawwad S Khawaja heard a suo moto case regarding Rs 70 million
financial scam in the ISE.The court had taken the notice of the
scam on the complaint of Brig (r) Faqeer Muhammad Khan, who
claimed that the MSPL had defrauded some 439 investors of Rs
70.17m by disposing of their shares without their knowledge.The
court directed NAB to furnish fortnightly progress report
regarding the case to the Registrar, Supreme Court and dispose of

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has “technically gone
bankrupt”, PIA Managing Director Captain Ijaz Haroon said on
Monday. Talking to a private TV channel, Haroon said no one had
bothered to inquire about PIA’s affairs for the past many years
